भगवद गीता अध्याय 4 श्लोक 1
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 4 Shlok 1 में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने इस अमर योगविद्या का इतिहास बताया है, जिसे सूर्यदेव विवस्वान् को दिया गया और फिर मनु तथा इक्ष्वाकु को उपदेशित किया गया।
श्लोक:
इमं विवस्वते योगं प्रोक्तवानहमव्ययम् ।
विवस्वान्मनवे प्राह मनुरिक्ष्वाकवेऽब्रवीत् ॥१॥
Transliteration:
imaṁ vivasvate yogaṁ proktavān aham avyayam
vivasvān manave prāha manur ikṣhvākave ’bravīt
अर्थ:
भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा- मैंने इस अमर योगविद्या का उपदेश सूर्यदेव विवस्वान् को दिया और विवस्वान् ने मनुष्यों के पिता मनु को उपदेश दिया और मनु ने इसका उपदेश इक्ष्वाकु को दिया।
Meaning:
The Blessed Lord said: I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun god, Vivasvan. Vivasvan taught it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Ikshvaku.
तात्पर्य:
यहाँ पर हमें भगवद्गीता का इतिहास प्राप्त होता है। यह अत्यन्त प्राचीन बताया गया है, जब इसे सूर्यलोक इत्यादि सम्पूर्ण लोकों के राजा को प्रदान किया गया था। समस्त लोकों के राजा विशेष रूप से निवासियों की रक्षा के निमित्त होते हैं, अतः राजन्यवर्ग को भगवद्गीता की विद्या को समझना चाहिए जिससे वे नागरिकों (प्रजा) पर शासन कर सकें और उन्हें काम-रूपी भवबन्धन से बचा सकें।
मानव जीवन का उद्देश्य भगवान् के साथ अपने शाश्वत सम्बन्ध के आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान का विकास है और सारे राज्यों तथा समस्त लोकों के शासनाध्यक्षों को चाहिए कि शिक्षा, संस्कृति तथा भक्ति द्वारा नागरिकों को यह पाठ पढ़ाएँ। दूसरे शब्दों में, सारे राज्य के शासनाध्यक्ष कृष्णभावनामृत विद्या का प्रचार करने के लिए होते हैं, जिससे जनता इस महाविद्या का लाभ उठा सके और मनुष्य जीवन के अवसर का लाभ उठाते हुए सफल मार्ग का अनुसरण कर सके।
This verse provides the history of the Bhagavad Gita. It is described as very ancient, having been given to the king of all the worlds, such as the Sun's realm. Kings of all the worlds are especially responsible for the protection of their subjects, therefore the ruling class should understand the knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita so they can govern the people and protect them from the bondage of lust. The purpose of human life is to develop spiritual knowledge of the eternal relationship with God, and all rulers of states and worlds should teach this lesson to their citizens through education, culture, and devotion. In other words, all rulers exist to spread Krishna consciousness so that the public can benefit from this great knowledge and follow the right path, taking full advantage of the opportunity of human life.
