भगवद गीता अध्याय 4 श्लोक 4
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 4 Shlok 4 में अर्जुन प्रश्न करते हैं कि जब भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का जन्म सूर्यदेव विवस्वान से बहुत बाद में हुआ है, तो उन्होंने आदिकाल में सूर्य को यह योग कैसे बताया?
श्लोक:
अपरं भवतो जन्म परं जन्म विवस्वतः ।
कथमेतद्विजानीयां त्वमादौ प्रोक्तवानिति ॥४॥
Transliteration:
aparaṁ bhavato janma paraṁ janma vivasvataḥ
katham etad vijānīyāṁ tvam ādau proktavān iti
अर्थ:
अर्जुन ने कहा - सूर्यदेव विवस्वान् आप से पहले हो चुके (ज्येष्ठ) हैं, तो फिर मैं कैसे समझूं कि प्रारम्भ में भी आपने उन्हें इस विद्या का उपदेश दिया था?
Meaning:
Arjuna said - Your birth is recent, while the birth of the sun-god Vivasvān is much earlier. How then should I understand that You taught this yoga in the beginning?
तात्पर्य:
जब अर्जुन भगवान् का माना हुआ भक्त है, तो उसे कृष्ण के वचनों पर विश्वास क्यों नहीं हो रहा था? वास्तव में अर्जुन यह जिज्ञासा अपने लिए नहीं कर रहा है, बल्कि उन लोगों के लिए कर रहा है जो भगवान् में विश्वास नहीं रखते विशेषकर वे असुर, जो श्रीकृष्ण को भगवान नहीं मानते। अर्जुन जानता था कि श्रीकृष्ण ही भगवान हैं, ब्रह्म के चरम रूप, हर वस्तु के मूल कारण हैं और देवकी के पुत्र रूप में उन्होंने अवतार लिया।
लेकिन आम व्यक्ति के लिए यह समझ पाना कठिन है कि परम शाश्वत पुरुष श्रीकृष्ण मानव रूप में कैसे अवतरित हो सकते हैं और कैसे उन्होंने आदि काल में सूर्य को यह योग बताया। इसलिए अर्जुन ने यह प्रश्न विशेष रूप से उन नास्तिकों के लिए उठाया जो श्रीकृष्ण को सामान्य मानव समझते हैं। इससे श्रीकृष्ण को स्वयं उत्तर देने का अवसर मिला ताकि उनके वचनों को प्रमाण माना जा सके।
कृष्ण स्वयं परम प्रमाण हैं और उनका कथन ही अंतिम प्रमाण है। भक्त उनके वचनों का स्वागत करते हैं और उन्हें पूजनीय मानते हैं, जबकि असुर उन्हें विकृत करके प्रस्तुत करते हैं। इस प्रकार अर्जुन का यह प्रश्न भगवद्भक्तों के लिए ज्ञानवर्धक है और असुरों की नास्तिक प्रवृत्ति को चुनौती देने वाला है।
Although Arjuna is a devotee of the Lord and has full faith in Krishna, he raises this question not out of doubt but for the benefit of those who question Krishna’s divinity. Arjuna knew very well that Krishna is the Supreme Lord, the ultimate source of all that exists. But for those who consider Krishna to be an ordinary man, this question is raised to clarify Krishna’s transcendental nature.
It is difficult for ordinary people to understand how the eternal Supreme Lord can appear in a human form and speak with authority on events that happened long before His apparent birth. Therefore, Arjuna sets the stage for Krishna to explain His divine nature and eternal existence. Krishna is the ultimate authority, and His words are to be accepted as supreme. Devotees welcome such divine revelations with faith and devotion, while demons reject them due to their materialistic mindset. Arjuna’s inquiry thus benefits all by inviting a divine explanation of Krishna’s transcendental position.
