भगवद गीता अध्याय 9 श्लोक 23
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 9 Shlok 23 में श्रीकृष्ण स्पष्ट करते हैं कि जो श्रद्धापूर्वक अन्य देवताओं की पूजा करते हैं, वे भी वास्तव में उन्हीं (कृष्ण) की पूजा करते हैं, लेकिन वह पूजा शास्त्रसम्मत नहीं होती अर्थात् अविधिपूर्वक होती है।
श्लोक:
येऽप्यन्यदेवताभक्ता यजन्ते श्रद्धयान्विताः।
तेऽपि मामेव कौन्तेय यजन्त्यविधिपूर्वकम्॥२३॥
Transliteration:
ye ’pyanya-devatā-bhaktā yajante śhraddhayānvitāḥ
te ’pi mām eva kaunteya yajantyavidhi-pūrvakam
अर्थ:
हे कुन्तीपुत्र! जो लोग अन्य देवताओं के भक्त हैं और उनकी श्रद्धापूर्वक पूजा करते हैं, वास्तव में वे भी मेरी ही पूजा करते हैं, किन्तु वे यह त्रुटिपूर्ण ढंग से करते हैं।
Meaning:
O son of Kunti, even those who are devotees of other deities and worship them with faith actually worship Me only, but in an improper manner.
तात्पर्य:
श्रीकृष्ण का कथन है "जो लोग अन्य देवताओं की पूजा में लगे होते हैं, वे अधिक बुद्धिमान नहीं होते, यद्यपि ऐसी पूजा अप्रत्यक्षतः मेरी ही पूजा है।"
उदाहरणार्थ, जब कोई मनुष्य वृक्ष की जड़ों में पानी न डालकर उसकी पत्तियों तथा टहनियों में डालता है, तो वह ऐसा इसलिए करता है क्योंकि उसे पर्याप्त ज्ञान नहीं होता या वह नियमों का ठीक से पालन नहीं करता।
इसी प्रकार शरीर के विभिन्न अंगों की सेवा करने का अर्थ है आमाशय में भोजन की पूर्ति करना।
इसी तरह विभिन्न देवता भगवान् की सरकार के विभिन्न अधिकारी तथा निर्देशक हैं। मनुष्य को अधिकारियों या निर्देशकों द्वारा नहीं, अपितु सरकार द्वारा निर्मित नियमों का पालन करना होता है।
इसी प्रकार हर एक को परमेश्वर की ही पूजा करनी होती है। इससे भगवान् के सारे अधिकारी तथा निर्देशक स्वतः प्रसन्न होंगे।
अधिकारी तथा निर्देशक तो सरकार के प्रतिनिधि होते हैं, अतः इन्हें घूस देना अवैध है। यहाँ पर इसी को अविधिपूर्वकम् कहा गया है।
दूसरे शब्दों में कृष्ण अन्य देवताओं की व्यर्थ पूजा का समर्थन नहीं करते।
Lord Krishna states that those who worship other deities with faith are not very wise, though such worship is indirectly meant for Him.
A good analogy is someone trying to water the leaves and branches of a tree without watering its root it's ineffective due to a lack of proper understanding. Similarly, serving different parts of the body is done effectively by feeding the stomach.
In the same way, various demigods are like administrative officers under the Supreme Government of the Lord. Just as a citizen should follow the laws of the state rather than appeasing individual officers with bribes, people should worship the Supreme Lord directly rather than the demigods.
Though the worship of demigods may appear devotional, it is termed “avidhi-pūrvakam” done improperly and without proper understanding of scriptural injunctions. Krishna does not approve of such misplaced worship.
