भगवद गीता अध्याय 16 श्लोक 6
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 16 Shlok 6 में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने बताया है कि इस संसार में प्राणी दो प्रकार के होते हैं – दैवी और आसुरी। दैवी गुण शास्त्रों के अनुसार जीवन जीने में सहायक हैं, जबकि आसुरी गुण नियमों की अवहेलना करते हैं।
श्लोक:
द्वौ भूतसर्गो लोकेऽस्मिन्दैव आसुर एव च ।
दैवो विस्तरशः प्रोक्त आसुरं पार्थ मे शृणु ॥६॥
Transliteration:
dvau bhūta-sargau loke ’smin daiva āsura eva cha
daivo vistaraśhaḥ prokta āsuraṁ pārtha me śhṛiṇu
अर्थ:
हे पृथापुत्र! इस संसार में सृजित प्राणी दो प्रकार के हैं- दैवी तथा आसुरी। मैं पहले ही विस्तार से तुम्हें दैवी गुण बतला चुका हूँ। अब मुझसे आसुरी गुणों के विषय में सुनो।
Meaning:
O son of Pritha, in this world there are two kinds of beings-divine and demoniac. The divine qualities have already been described in detail. Now hear from Me about the demoniac.
तात्पर्य:
अर्जुन को यह कह कर कि वह दैवी गुणों से सम्पन्न होकर जन्मा है, भगवान् कृष्ण अब उसे आसुरी गुण बताते हैं। इस संसार में बद्धजीव दो श्रेणियों में बँटे हुए हैं। जो जीव दिव्य गुणों से सम्पन्न होते हैं, वे नियमित जीवन बिताते हैं, अर्थात् वे शास्त्रों तथा विद्वानों द्वारा बताये गये आदेशों का निर्वाह करते हैं। मनुष्य को चाहिए कि प्रामाणिक शास्त्रों के अनुसार ही कर्तव्य निभाए, यह प्रकृति दैवी कहलाती है। जो शास्त्रविहित विधानों को नहीं मानता और अपनी सनक के अनुसार कार्य करता रहता है, वह आसुरी कहलाता है।
शास्त्र के विधिविधानों के प्रति आज्ञा-भाव ही एकमात्र कसौटी है, अन्य नहीं। वैदिक साहित्य में उल्लेख है कि देवता तथा असुर दोनों ही प्रजापति से उत्पन्न हुए, अन्तर इतना ही है कि एक श्रेणी के लोग वैदिक आदेशों को मानते हैं और दूसरे नहीं मानते।
After assuring Arjuna that he was born with divine qualities, Lord Krishna now begins to describe the demoniac nature. In this world, conditioned souls are broadly divided into two categories. Those endowed with divine qualities live a regulated life, following the instructions of scriptures and saintly authorities. Such obedience to scriptural injunctions is considered divine. On the other hand, those who reject scriptural rules and act whimsically are considered demoniac. The true standard for judging human behavior is one’s obedience to the injunctions of the scriptures. The Vedic texts explain that both the demigods and demons are born from Prajapati, but the difference lies in their acceptance or rejection of Vedic authority.
