भगवत गीता अध्याय 1 का श्लोक 10
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 1 Shlok 10 में दुर्योधन अपनी सेना की शक्ति को पाण्डवों की सेना से श्रेष्ठ बताते हुए, अपनी विजय को सुनिश्चित मानता है। वह यह कहता है कि उसकी सेना भीष्म जैसे अनुभवी योद्धा के नेतृत्व में असीमित है, जबकि पाण्डवों की सेना भीम के संरक्षण में सीमित है।
श्लोक:
अपार्याप्तं तदस्माकं बलं भीष्माभिरक्षितम् ।
पर्याप्तं त्विदमेतेषां बलं भीमाभिरक्षितम् ॥१०॥
Transliteration:
apāryāptaṁ tadasmākaṁ balaṁ bhīṣhmābhirakṣhitam
paryāptaṁ tvidameteṣhāṁ balaṁ bhīmābhirakṣhitam
अर्थ:
हमारी शक्ति अपरिमेय है और हम सब पितामह द्वारा भलीभाँति संरक्षित हैं, जबकि पाण्डवों की शक्ति भीम द्वारा भलीभाँति संरक्षित होकर भी सीमित है।
Meaning:
Our strength, safeguarded by Bhishma, is immeasurable, while the strength of the Pandavas, protected by Bhima, is limited.
तात्पर्य:
यहाँ पर दुर्योधन ने तुलनात्मक शक्ति का अनुमान प्रस्तुत किया है। वह सोचता है कि अत्यन्त अनुभवी सेनानायक भीष्म पितामह के द्वारा विशेष रूप से संरक्षित होने के कारण उसकी सशस्त्र सेनाओं की शक्ति अपरिमेय है।
दूसरी ओर पाण्डवों की सेनाएँ सीमित हैं क्योंकि उनकी सुरक्षा एक कम अनुभवी नायक भीम द्वारा की जा रही है, जो भीष्म की तुलना में नगण्य है। दुर्योधन सदैव भीम से ईर्ष्या करता था क्योंकि वह जानता था कि यदि उसकी मृत्यु कभी हुई भी तो वह भीम के द्वारा ही होगी। किन्तु साथ ही उसे दृढ़ विश्वास था कि भीष्म की उपस्थिति में उसकी विजय निश्चित है क्योंकि भीष्म कहीं अधिक उत्कृष्ट सेनापति हैं। वह युद्ध में विजयी होगा, यह उसका दृढ़ निश्चय था।
Duryodhana here expresses his judgment of relative strength. He believes that, with the great and experienced commander Bhishma protecting his army, their power is limitless. On the other hand, the Pandavas' army is limited as it is guarded by Bhima, who in Duryodhana’s view is far inferior to Bhishma. Although Duryodhana harbors jealousy toward Bhima knowing in his heart that if he ever dies, it will be at Bhima’s hands he is still firmly convinced of victory due to Bhishma’s superior leadership. His confidence in success stems from Bhishma's presence.
