भगवद गीता अध्याय 2 श्लोक 35
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 2 Shlok 35 में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण अर्जुन से कहते हैं कि यदि वह युद्ध से डरकर भागते हैं, तो जो महान योद्धा उनके यश को सम्मान देते हैं, वे उन्हें तुच्छ मानेंगे।
श्लोक:
भयाद्रणादुपरतं मंस्यन्ते त्वां महारथाः।
येषां च त्वं बहुमतो भूत्वा यास्यसि लाघवम् ॥३५॥
Transliteration:
bhayād raṇād uparataṁ mansyante tvāṁ mahā-rathāḥ
yeṣhāṁ cha tvaṁ bahu-mato bhūtvā yāsyasi lāghavam
अर्थ:
जिन-जिन महान योद्धाओं ने तुम्हारे नाम तथा यश को सम्मान दिया है वे सोचेंगे कि तुमने डर के मारे युद्धभूमि छोड़ दी है और इस तरह वे तुम्हें तुच्छ मानेंगे।
Meaning:
The great warriors who have honored your name and glory will think that you abandoned the battlefield out of fear, and thus, they will consider you insignificant.
तात्पर्य:
भगवान् कृष्ण अर्जुन को अपना निर्णय सुना रहे हैं, “तुम यह मत सोचो कि दुर्योधन, कर्ण तथा अन्य समकालीन महारथी यह सोचेंगे कि तुमने अपने भाइयों तथा पितामह पर दया करके युद्धभूमि छोड़ी है।
वे तो यही सोचेंगे कि तुमने अपने प्राणों के भय से युद्धभूमि छोड़ी है। इस प्रकार उनकी दृष्टि में तुम्हारे प्रति जो सम्मान है वह धूल में मिल जायेगा।”
Lord Krishna is conveying his decision to Arjuna, saying, "Do not think that Duryodhana, Karna, and other great warriors of your time will believe that you left the battlefield out of compassion for your brothers and grandfather. They will think that you abandoned the battlefield out of fear for your life. In their eyes, the respect they have for you will turn to dust."
