भगवद गीता अध्याय 2 श्लोक 37
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 2 Shlok 37 में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण अर्जुन से कहते हैं कि यदि वह युद्ध में मारे जाते हैं तो स्वर्ग प्राप्त करेंगे, और यदि वह जीतते हैं तो पृथ्वी के साम्राज्य का भोग करेंगे। इसलिए उन्हें युद्ध में भाग लेना चाहिए, चाहे परिणाम जो भी हो।
श्लोक:
हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम्।
तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः ॥३७॥
Transliteration:
hato vā prāpsyasi swargaṁ jitvā vā bhokṣhyase mahīm
tasmād uttiṣhṭha kaunteya yuddhāya kṛita-niśhchayaḥ
अर्थ:
हे कुन्तीपुत्र! तुम यदि युद्ध में मारे जाओगे तो स्वर्ग प्राप्त करोगे या यदि तुम जीत जाओगे तो पृथ्वी के साम्राज्य का भोग करोगे। अतः दृढ़ संकल्प करके खड़े होओ और युद्ध करो।
Meaning:
O son of Kunti, if you are killed in battle, you will attain heaven, and if you are victorious, you will enjoy the earth's kingdom. Therefore, arise with determination and engage in the battle.
तात्पर्य:
यद्यपि अर्जुन के पक्ष में विजय निश्चित न थी फिर भी उसे युद्ध करना था, क्योंकि यदि वह युद्ध में मारा भी गया तो वह स्वर्गलोक को जायेगा।
Even though victory for Arjuna was not guaranteed, he still had to fight. If he were killed in the battle, he would attain heaven, and if he were victorious, he would enjoy the earthly kingdom.
