भगवद गीता अध्याय 11 श्लोक 39
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 11 Shlok 39 में अर्जुन भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की महिमा का गुणगान करते हुए उन्हें वायु, यमराज, अग्नि, वरुण, चन्द्रमा, ब्रह्मा और प्रपितामह कहकर सम्बोधित करता है। वह श्रद्धा से बारंबार प्रणाम करता है।
श्लोक:
वायुर्यमो ऽग्निर्वरुणः शशाङ्कः
प्रजापतिस्त्वं प्रपितामहश्च ।
नमो नमस्तेऽस्तु सहस्त्रकृत्वः
पुनश्च भूयोऽपि नमो नमस्ते ॥३९॥
vāyur yamo ’gnir varuṇaḥ śhaśhāṅkaḥ
prajāpatis tvaṁ prapitāmahaśh cha
namo namas te ’stu sahasra-kṛitvaḥ
punaśh cha bhūyo ’pi namo namas te
अर्थ:
आप वायु हैं तथा परम नियन्ता भी हैं। आप अग्नि हैं, जल हैं तथा चन्द्रमा हैं। आप आदि जीव ब्रह्मा हैं और आप प्रपितामह हैं। अतः आपको हजार बार नमस्कार है और पुनः पुनः नमस्कार है।
Meaning:
You are the wind, the god of death, fire, water, the moon, and Brahma himself the grandsire of all beings. I offer You my salutations a thousand times, and again and yet again, I bow before You in reverence.
तात्पर्य:
भगवान् को वायु कहा गया है, क्योंकि वायु सर्वव्यापी होने के कारण समस्त देवताओं का मुख्य अधिष्ठाता है। अर्जुन कृष्ण को प्रपितामह कहकर सम्बोधित करता है, क्योंकि वे विश्व के प्रथम जीव ब्रह्मा के पिता हैं।
The Lord is called Vayu because of His all-pervading presence, similar to the wind, which is a principal force among the gods. By addressing Krishna as Prapitamaha, Arjuna acknowledges that Krishna is the father of even Brahma, the first living being and creator within this universe.
