भगवद गीता अध्याय 17 श्लोक 22
Bhagavad Gita Adhyay 17 Shlok 22 में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण बताते हैं कि अनुचित स्थान, समय, अयोग्य व्यक्ति या बिना आदर के दिया गया दान तामसी कहलाता है।
श्लोक:
अदेशकाले यद्दानमपात्रेभ्यश्च दीयते ।
असत्कृतमवज्ञातं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम् ॥२२॥
Transliteration:
adeśha-kāle yad dānam apātrebhyaśh cha dīyate
asat-kṛitam avajñātaṁ tat tāmasam udāhṛitam
अर्थ:
तथा जो दान किसी अपवित्र स्थान में, अनुचित समय में, किसी अयोग्य व्यक्ति को या बिना समुचित ध्यान तथा आदर से दिया जाता है, वह तामसी कहलाता है।
Meaning:
And charity performed at an improper place and time, given to unworthy persons, or without proper attention and respect, is declared to be in the mode of ignorance.
तात्पर्य:
यहाँ पर मद्यपान तथा द्यूतक्रीड़ा में व्यसनी के लिए दान देने को प्रोत्साहन नहीं दिया गया। ऐसा दान तामसी है। ऐसा दान लाभदायक नहीं होता, वरन् इससे पापी पुरुषों को प्रोत्साहन मिलता है।
इसी प्रकार, यदि बिना सम्मान तथा ध्यान दिये किसी उपयुक्त व्यक्ति को दान दिया जाय, तो वह भी तामसी है।
Charity given in impure places, at improper times, to unqualified or unworthy recipients, or without due respect and proper consideration, is classified as charity in the mode of ignorance. Such charity is not beneficial; instead, it encourages sinful people. Even if given to a deserving person but without respect and attention, the donation becomes tāmasic. Vedic scriptures strictly discourage such ignorant charity.
